About Illyria

For thirty-three consecutive years we have toured the length and breadth of the UK, and have also given performances in The Netherlands, France, Germany, Switzerland, the USA and Canada. We have attracted constant critical acclaim, won five awards, achieved accolades from internationally renowned academics, and gained an unmatched reputation for excellence.

Each season between May and September we give more than two hundred performances. Our annual programme always offers a wide variety of titles: from Shakespeare to classic plays, from musicals to family favourites. Our mission today is exactly as it has been since Illyria burst onto the scene in 1992: to create outstandingly enjoyable theatre; to make it available for everyone; and to innovate and lead the field of outdoor touring theatre.

Some of our audience-members tell us they were taken to see Illyria as teens by their parents – and are now taking their own grandchildren to see us! Our ambition is to entertain many more generations to come!
