ILLYRIA IS HIRING!

 

Illyria, one of the UK’s foremost outdoor theatre companies, is looking to engage a freelance marketing and social media specialist to help promote the company’s 2021 outdoor tours.

 

This is a paid freelance post starting as soon as possible for an initial 6 weeks (pro rata) with an opportunity to extend the contract, if funding allows.

 

Hours: Up to 14 hours per week.

Pay: £25 p/h (paid on invoice)

 

Illyria was created in 1991, and ever since has delighted audiences the length and breadth of the UK, and in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France, the United States and Canada.

 

Illyria has also won international awards for the lively clarity of its approach to Shakespeare's plays, the high quality of its shows for Families and the refreshing originality of its English classics adaptations and Gilbert & Sullivan performances.

Illyria complies with the Equity Union's Outdoor Touring Theatre Guidelines and ensures that all its actors are paid a fair living wage and treated with respect and dignity. Illyria is proud that for 30 years its popularity has enabled it to operate on a fully professional basis.

 

Role Description: 

  • Working directly with Illyria’s Company Producer to devise marketing strategies and content for the 2021 outdoor touring theatre season.

  • Managing Illyria’s social media posts and marketing - specifically paid marketing promotions on Facebook, Instagram etc.

  • Creating and circulating press releases, imagery and video content to reach potential audiences.

  • Improving the Illyria website’s SEO. (Hosted on the Wix platform).

  • Working with clients venues to promote content that maximises exposure.

  • Working to broaden Illyria’s exposure in less represented markets, especially ethnically and socially diverse groups.

  • Using your contacts to attract theatre critics from regional and national press - particularly for performances in the south east of England.

Essential skills:

  • Detailed knowledge of social media strategies and paid promotion campaigns, as well as traditional marketing and advertising, where appropriate.

  • Experience of improving SEO, specifically on the Wix platform. 

  • Experience in writing and successfully disseminating press releases.

  • Extensive knowledge of, and contacts in, online and printed media outlets to attract critics and influencers to review Illyria’s performances.

 

Desirable: 

  • Direct experience in the performing arts sector.

  • Experience of managing marketing and PR campaigns for theatre.

  • Skilled use of Photoshop, Final Cut Pro or similar.

  • Knowledge of Illyria's output and style?

  • Knowledge of the outdoor touring sector?
